DD 8.45 ... Planes, Trains, & Bicycles ... And crazy, crazy, me!!!

Even if you blocked all your friends on face book can you still see when they post something on newsfeed?
I only blocked them from my newsfeed. I can still creep, it's just discouraged, as it is kinda wasting time ...

Are you wearing your new rain jacket in the pictures of you, your comp. and someone else on face book??
Yes, yes I am. That's Brother A, he is getting baptized!

Do you still have enough money after your bike repairs? Yes, I know you have master budgeting skills, but do you have food money?
Yes, I use personal funds for said bike repairs, and still have more for food.

Is face book a requirement or optional?
Optional, but it rocks.

Are you going to update your "I'm a Mormon" profile?
Probably should.

How did your kickstand get mangled?
I'm not entirely sure, probably when I swing my leg over the back to get on and off while I'm riding, sometimes when I'm going to stop, I kick it down ... I may have kicked it a little hard one too many times ...

Are you interested in us sending you pictures?
Yes!! The funnier the better!

Where do the Zone Leaders Live, are they in your District?
Nope, I'm free of all supervision here in Kawagoe, just me going mad with power!!

Do you know how often new missionaries are coming into Tokyo from the MTC and how many? In less than 6 months the first wave of Shiami will be going home ... it could be the beginning of the end of the big wave of missionaries ... do you ever have discussions about the urgency of the hastening?
Every training for the last seven weeks ...
Here is me ...
Touching the floor flat footed, with my hands on e ceiling
... My arms are sooooooo long ...
Dad, beloved father ... Did you think that here might be a leak in the pipes? I mean if it's on the hill, then I helped/glued most of those together ... I know it's an ugly option, but it may be my fault ... Gomen. Good to hear that your still mixing orange juice and Mountain Dew ... it is quite delicious! We have this stuff called Natchan here that's like a million parts sugar one part orange that goes quite nicely with it.

Mother ... I can assure you that it was not a mountain lion that mauled my bike ... it got my leg pretty good, but I made sure that it didn't touch my bike ... also, I'm a thousand percent sure that I shredded that receipt when I got back to my apartment, which means my dearest sister probably told you ... bridge burned ... but thank you for being so understanding ... it does cost less than a car, your're right ... thanks for the perspective! Sorry about Mario cart, get really good! Then we can school Waylon when I get home!! That'll be way fun!! Make sure to keep away from Jordan Commons though, can't believe there was a mountain lion there, . . . . that's way sketch.

Smashed pants ... dibs on captain shirt ... Dibsity Dibsity Dibsity!!!  I'll get in really good shape before I do it too!!! Italy should be fun, sounds like your going to be pretty busy and what not, but be safe, remember who you are, and if you get lost, just call your pilot friend to come pick you up ... stay good friends with him btw, I love flying!!!

Storming the village!!!! I disapprove ... I like how you just casually slip in that you shared my bed with Waylon ... and I disapprove ... remember how much you like the couch? It was so nice and fluffy? And comfy and warm and very much not my bed! Don't you miss it? Don't you miss it so much?!?! Go to it!! Go to it now! This very instant!! Don't delay, but fly, fly to the couch that so desperately misses you sleeping on it!!! And rid yourself, and all pillows off my bed!!?, think of the joy that should be yours!

Anyways ... this week was pretty good. We went to the Filipino night with Brother A and had some Filipino food ... which was way tasty, but did funny things to my insides ... I loved it, but now I'm skeptical ... way good though, probably do it again if I had the chance. So that was good, I wrecked at bingo, btw, thanks to all those years of playing at the reunion all the time. I'm a champion!! Whoo!!!  Big miracle though, on the way home, Brother A starts talking about when he gets baptized, and we are all like, but you mom said that you can't, and he was all like, she said I could! I'm good the end of July! Whoo!! And we were way pumped for it!

Other than that we met with a kid this week, he came to church and loved all our family history stuff, he just talked to me for like an hour about it during class, way funny! We also met with this crazy old guy, love him to death, but he's straight crazy! He's way funny, and he is doing good, progressing to Christ nicely and all, but doesn't want to get baptized yet because his wife may not agree ... but we'll meet her and God might be able to change her mind ... he's pretty good at that kind of of thing!

We also did some service and what not at six on Saturday morning ... that was rough, we went and picked up garbage with the single adults and an investigator, it was pretty fun, my team, Team Awesome, grabbed so much garbage, we found bike parts and umbrellas that were just hashed beyond belief, so we took them all, and threw them away ... we also talked to a lot of people about church whilst doing it ... pretty legit.

So I found out today that my front tire has another small hole in it ... like after three days it's quite soft ... I know, I wanna cry, I wanna cry sooooo bad!!! But, thus is life, part of me wants to just never fix it, and just keep putting more air into it? Bad idea? Good idea? I think that it's great!!!

Breakfast, the book is Blue
Okay, so I just put this on Facebook, but I thought I would share it with you so you don't worry about me starving ever again.  Breakfast, pretty important right, if we don't eat it then our day pretty much blows ... I've experienced it a lot ... being a college student with a seven-forty am class, I never had time for breakfast, I was sleeping instead, way rough, but I realize now, that breakfast, which is oh so delicious btw, is just like studying the scriptures!!! If we don't do it, we'll probably survive, but it's just not the same as when we do it!! It's so much better, today I studied some Alma 60, and although it's not the most spiritual passage in the Book of Mormon, through active study and prayer, you can still get a lot out of it! It's way nice!!  Btw, today I thought it would be fun to wash my eye out with shampoo ... so I'm rockin my glasses today ... Rough morning, but then I hit the Book of Mormon and it just rocked my socks right off!!! I may even put in my contacts later because I feel so great right now!!  Anyway, the book is blue, the church is true, and God loves you!!! And you and you and you!!! Whooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Well, that's all I gotta say for this week ... except this awesome ab work out I recommend because it's so simple, and I made it up myself... It only takes 30 not so easy minutes too! In just five easy steps you too can be joyful!!

Step one, lay down and start timer
Step two, start doing ab work outs!! And don't stop for thirty minutes ... feel free to mix it up every minute or two, maybe even every forty five seconds if need be, but don't stop or slow down.  Every four minutes you get a thirty second break, except on minute twenty eight, skip that break, and take three ten second breaks as you stretch during the last minute ...
Step three. Cry, and then look at your washboard abs and turn those tears of sadness into tears of joy!!! Yeah!!!
Step four, probably the most important one ... take sometime to write Dear Griffiths Choro and tell him that he is awesome!! Also tell him about your work out, your life, and make it a heart felt letter that he can reply to!
Step five, celebrate with cake for making a missionaries day!!!

Lovely all and thanks for all you do!!!
Love, Griffiths Choro

DD 8.35 ... I can jump that high #TotallyCouldnt ...

How often do you get to get on facebook?
We are allowed to get on for one hour every day, right now, but it might slow down until we get more of our people on there with us.

Can we message back and forth on Facebook or ...
That would be bad. If I get a message, I'm allowed to message them once asking them to write me on P-Day.

Did you delete all of your pictures on Facebook or did you just hide them all from your timeline?
I just hid them all ... unless they weren't my pictures, and in that case, I had to delete some ...

Do you get to re-engage on Twitter in conjunction with your Facebook efforts?
Nope, just face book, sad right?

Did you bear your testimony when you got transferred into Kawagoe?
I sure did ... it was rough

Have you had to talk in a Kawagoe Sacrament Meeting yet?
I had to pray and testify once, but other than that, nope.

What do you during the Sunday School Hour in Church? Organ Sunday School or Family History Sunday School? or real Sunday school?
Go with our friends to class, or go to the English class with our less active friends.

Does Japan have a 4th of July? Ok, just a joke, but it does lead to a question, does Japan have a founders day of celebration ... if so when is it?
I don't know.

How are all your investigators doing? Still going strong?
Pretty good. Brother A's mom said that he can't get baptized, but he's still meeting with us

How is the weather this week? Is monsoon season at its peak? or does it get worse later on?
I don't know. Bought my coat and haven't needed it yet.

Father. I do all our district meetings in English ... not Japanese, most foreign missionaries, myself included, are not that fluent in Japanese yet. The poems are sweet, I usually get my ideas for trainings and what not from the weekly stats that I get. If something is low for a couple weeks, then we talk about it ... or try.

Mother ... I all most died when you described the fridge incident ... funniest thing of my life, I love it. I would kinda like y'all to keep the fridge until I get back, just so that I can experience it once before it goes away! I don't think that is likely, so I guess it's alright to chuck it.

Sam... Ragnar... Soccer, good luck. I'm jealous about the Ragnar, let's do it when I get back.  I'll have like a monthish to train; I should be good. Wait, didn't you already sign us up? I thought I remember you saying something to that effect. Well good luck, and have fun in Italy, you're still going to write me right? I hope so!!

Stormin Mormon. Glad your week with mom was eventful ... almost as fun as mine! Also, what did you do to my car? A wrench rattling around inside of anything is not a good sound ... I know that you said don't worry, but ... just please, please be careful with my Clydesdale.

Family in general- so with my blog there may need to be some changes. I left the post on Facebook of it on my wall, and so people might go check it out. I'll send you an email of the guidelines for it today too, but if y'all could make sure and and follow them, it would be really great! Thanks so much, even though it may take some cleaning up, I would really appreciate it if y'all could, love ya!!!

So this week ... tried to bunny hop up onto a curb going twenty miles an hour ... blew my back tire right out. Got that replaced just before my kickstand got mangled by something and got ripped apart ... and that happened just before my brake line to my back brakes snapped ... so yeah, spent about 3800¥ on my bike this week, but now it's in good working condition and I probably won't die, so that's nice. I know that about right now mom is probably freaking out ... but I just want to say that I am perfectly safe, and not once was in any physical danger ... I am however stupid and tried to hop up on to a curb and blew my tire ... I know, way dumb.

This week was pretty good. We met with some peeps, and got face book started. We still are not friends with all of them, but we got some started, hopefully sometime this week we will actually start being able to post some effective missionary stuff. So that should be fun!

Also, I got the package this week! The shirt is awesome, the tie is interesting ... I don't know how I feel about the plastic wrap sitch, but the tie itself is way cool. Thanks so much for all the candy and the cool aid too. I'm going to make some kool-aid ice cubes, and then some more Kool-aid and mix them together in our blender to make some sort of ice blue raspberry lemonade slushy of sorts ... I'll let ya know how it goes ... but it might just blow my mind.

Thanks for all the stuff this week!
Love ya, Griffiths Choro

DD 8.25 ... and then he let go and watched me go ...

So, did you buy the raincoat? We hope and pray you did.
Totally did ... I miss being wet all the time.

Send us a picture of the shoes and we will get some more to you? Wet feet equals foot infections! None of us want that, including your companions! Then please send a picture of your shoes, we are curious!
Will do ... it's not too bad.

What is Rezentes Choro teaching you to cook? Dishes you can replicate here at home?
Just like curry and stuff with all sorts of spices and what not, that's what I'm learning, what spices go well together.

Do you still have your umbrella? Does it work in monsoon season?
The umbrellas in Japan are way better ... they don't blow out all the time. So I just borrow one from the church.

How did you purchase the raincoat?
With the money that I have left from my bike … yeah, I'm quite frugal.

Can you wear the boots during monsoon season or are they too hot?
Way too hot.

So where did you get a fan? Or do you have it lying around to keep you cool? or to dry your clothes? or maybe you have one because of the high humidity?
... maybe all of the above.

Your email was hard to read (I am a master at interpreting your auto correct but I just couldn't do it). Did you say you are getting Facebook on the 26th?
Yes, it might be tomorrow though; we are not really sure.
P.S. I thought that I was getting better at typing; I guess, just not right.

Why are there only 2 district meetings this transfer?
Because it is a really short transfer!

Did you do anything for being out a year? (I've heard people like ... burns shirts or something ...) How do you feel about it? sad? or ok?
It’s sad ... I ate a bowl of chocolate bars as cereal with iced hot chocolate instead of milk ... I think I'm broken ... as I was eating it, I thought, this is a little too sweet for me. I know, right, I’m broken for sure.

Do you ever hear from Jon? (your roommate)
Sometimes ... Sweden turned him into a cat ... I got a picture and everything.

Is your iPad OK … even though it's gotten wet from the rain?
Like I said ... or not, I put it in a ghetto plastic bag inside of my bag under my coat … and then I pray.

Do you have sufficient funds from your monthly allowance to purchase the rain coat? Just a heads up, we are obsessed with you buying the rain coat, we really hope you bought one so you don't have to answer all these questions.
I used personal funds left over from my bike ... it was cheap remember.

Have you started wearing your rain pants yet? Do they perhaps have pockets that you can stuff your iPad into??
No pockets; see above question for iPad info.

How are things going with Brother A, he of the cool backpack?
He’s doing real good. Set a baptismal date, loving church and wants to dendo his family and peeps too.

How are your teeth? Need more floss?
I'm good. Floss all the time ... and I still have a lot left, but really, I do actually.

How often do you buy, or eat American food?
... I live in Japan, what is American food? Doughnuts, there are no doughnuts here that are on the same scale as America.

What is the best meal Rezentes Choro has cooked for you so far?
He made pancakes with homemade banana syrup this morning.

Give us a report on your district? Everything going well?
Everyone is awesome!!!!!! so many miracles this week, more on that later though.

Father dearest father ... You'll get more later, but for now I just wanted to say that you are the least stealthy in code words for my vhfsjoapkfsbvjoer. I mean really? Stars and hashtags? I didn't even have to read the surrounding paragraphs to know it was my vhfsjoapkfsbvjoer. I to jest ... well I did appreciate that cypher ... I look forward to the challenge. Mwhahahahahah. Glad to hear that the lawn is going well, hope that you can start mowing it by July, that would be really sweet!!! Maybe we’ll have a back yard by the time I get home, and I can be like, remember the time you all put in the grass without me? That was nice, thanks for not waiting for me. That'll be a good day.

Mother of mine; worrying about things are so crazy ... if it makes you feel any better ... I have nothing to say to make it feel better, except that I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off all day long. That is hilarious about grandma ... I need to write her BTW, don't let me forget.

Sam: the most remembered thing in your letter, David ran it in 1:37; I totally did it in 1:30 last year, what!!!!!! Up!!!!!! … I’m not always awesome, but ... oh wait, yeah I am.  Also all the converts sound way legit!! I’m jealous, but not really, preaching the word of God is way better, more on this later. I'm psyched for America, but Japan lost already ... sad it's kind of a bummer.

Storm ... I've heard that you water the grass better than anyone else in the whole world ... I'm dying to go to heaven and watch the entire scenes, over and over and over again ... Love it … good word pictures too. I so glad that you’re so chipper after the half marathon, Sam almost died. Thought she wasn't going to make it, and then there is you , just bouncing along with not a care in the world, no training or anything at all ... you gotta love it!

So this week ... well nothing really happened, then I went on splits with the zone leaders, Seto Choro, he's going home this transfer, so he's going hardcore ... he didn't tell me that I was doing bad, but he just took me by the hand and went hard core, and then he let go and watched me go that hard ... it was nice, I felt so empowered and was reminded that I could do this, and do it well. So after splits Watanabe Choro came back and said that the he learned the same thing ... so up we just started to dendo like crazy. Taught like three lessons in three hours, and then got all of our old investigators back and found some new people simply by walking into the church ... yeah ... it's pretty sweet, we have a baptismal date and two people that are ready, they just won't commit yet because they are so busy ... good week, I just started asking myself, what would God want me to do, right now? Pretty much I just barely decided that if I truly try to do what God wants me to do and only that, it usually works out. Pretty much things are going really well.

So the district ... everyone has at least one baptismal date, and I was able to do an interview on Sunday for Sister S. She is going to get baptized on the 29th of this is month. Then there Sister J and Brother JP, they're from the Congo, they are planning on getting baptized on the 20th of July, and then there is Brother S who is scheduled for the 6th of July and Brother A is scheduled for the 27th of the July ... We’re all doing fairly well. We went from being the worst in the entire zone, too, I don't want to say leading it, but were close ... Mwahahahahahahahahaha!!! I've literally been so happy the last few days, just because we have been running around all the time. On Sunday we had a three hour lesson with our man Brother F ... he's really good too, but just loves to talk ... like seriously ... for like two and a half hours he talked ... good time though, switched numbers with the member we were with. Way legit!!!

Also this week I found the best auto correct ever ...

So spiritual message time!!! So this week we saw lots of miracles. And it was really cool. I just wanted to share my favorite scripture Mormon 9:17-21. It's just says that we need to have more faith to see miracles. In the last couple days we saw a lot of cool things happen here in Kawagoe. I decided that all it took was for us to believe and desire for the best to come. When we did, it was miraculous!! I loved every second of it and am excited for it to keep happening, and I know that it will!!!

Love you all!

DD 8.24 ... Happy Father's Day, sorry it's so short, but I had to teach ...

Father of mine ... I don't know where to begin, I just want to say thank you for being an amazing father to me and to the rest of us kids. I know that it may have been a struggle sometimes. I mean I know I wasn't the best kid, but you always were trying to do what was right. I remember all the times of watching you work, hearing your lectures, and eating your Dutch oven food at scout camps. Thank you for all the good memories and the good example that you have shown me over the years. I especially want to thank you for all the support that you have given me while I have been in my mission. I have had the privilege of working with some amazing people while I have been out here, and I can honestly say that the hardest thing I can think of is not having the support of your parents. Thank you for supporting me through all the stuff that I have gone through. I thoroughly enjoy all of the poems that you send to me, and still keep and read over them all frequently. Thank you for reminding me of what we are all truly capable of, and that we can do so much more than we think that we can.

I hope that I can grow up to be the type of father that you are to me. You have had such a great impact on who I was, who I am, and who I want to become. Thanks for all he years of helping me with my math homework, and all the other things that you did, for example, picking me up from swim practice in the morning. Thank you for all that you did to help me stay on the right path, thank you for all the leadership lessons that you gave me in young men's, thank you for all of your service and time that you have put into our family. I can't imagine any of the family reunions or barbecues without you there.

Ps, or side not I guess. Do you remember the year when you made the home made root beer at grandmas house and left the lid on a little too tight and it exploded off and landed on the roof? That was pretty funny.

Thank you for comparing everything to physics for me ... it really helped me out. Thanks for making sure that I was capable to do the things that were important for me to be able to do to be a functioning human being. You really are a huge role model for me. The main thing that I have learned how ever is how important it is to stay in the gospel. Thankful for being the member and the father that raised good kids. Thank you for all that you do for mom and my sisters, thank you for all that you have done for TeJay and me, and thank you for the service that you so willingly give to our father in heaven. Thank you so much dad, your amazing!! I love you
thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii DD 8.15 ... Tis Monsoon Season ... Good thing I love me some swimmin' ...

Does Kuroiwa Choro’s parents know about the accident?
Yeah, he wrote them last week.

What did the mission president have to say about the accident?
Hmmm, glad you're not dead, be careful.

Were you with Kuroiwa when he had the accident?
No, I was in our apartment

Who took the picture if it wasn’t you?
White Choro sent it to me.

How is Kuroiwa feeling now? Has the accident affected his confidence on the bike and in his ability to serve as a missionary?
He's been grounded from his bike for a week, but he's doing good.

Did Elder Kuroiwa's bike survive his accident?
Yeah, it didn't even get scratched. He's doing great by the way; he is getting his stitches out today and than he is going to be all good.  Mom shouldn't
worry, I wasn't with him. Kuroiwa got grazed by the car because it ran a red light. Mom will be glad to know that I am a little more careful than I was being before.

Is your district still the same?
Pretty much! Sister Tenorio left but Sister Mondano came down from Sado. She's Filipino, and all we have here are Filipino's ... So that's nice.

What was your best experience this week?
Cooking with Rezentes Choro!

We heard this is a five transfer week to compensate for last transfer's seven week effort; is this true?
Yes.

Do you get a bunk bed now? or still on the futon?
Still on a futon.

Did you get the video from Sam?  We loved yours from last week, it was the best!!!  We watched it over and over again. You look really good!  We'll keep practicing!!
Couldn't see it. Strike that ... totally got it to work ... y'all are not as good at it as I am though ... sad day ... keep practicing, maybe by Christmas y'all can blow my mind.

How is your English class going? Any more students?
It's good. New people every week.

Do you know Matz? Or is it just a video you use? So impressed you understand every word!
It's just a video we use. It's fun...

Parentals: Thanks for the heads up about the places to go; we go to Kawagoe quite bit actually. It's pretty nice. There are a lot of people there. I'll have to check some of them out this transfer or next. As always, thanks for the advice.  Good luck and keep being An awesome dad!!! Happy early Father's Day, I'm gonna write you a better letter next week when I have more time, so be looking forward of of it!! It's going to be pretty great!!! I love you Dad!

So this week was pretty good. Being District Leader again is fun, but the best part of the transfer is going to be Rezentez Choro ... his dream in life is to be a professional chef ... yeah, we use spices and everything, it's way legit. Also, he's totally teaching me how to cook. Cumin Salt and a variety of Peppers are a really great combo BTW. Things here are good. We are all really crazy exhausted, but I'm alright. Some cool things that happened this week: we got a call on Saturday ... then we had two people come to church! One of them was referred to us and one of em we actually found, he's Filipino, Brother A is way cool! In fact ... his level of coolness can be described by his back pack ... which is leopard print ... ... Yeah, boss. Other than that, not much really happened this week.

So yeah, I don't really have much to write about this week, but I know how crazy thoroughly y'all read all these emails so think that I might try to ramble on for a bit more.

This week I realized that my shoes are getting less and less waterproof ... there are tiny cracks in the soles of the right foot shoe on both pairs ... and since it is monsoon season this week, you might say my feet are pretty soaked through all of the time ... well, the right foot is. It's all good though, I got the fan set up to dry em off and what not. Plus, the water here is quite warm so it's not too bad ... tis quite nice actually. I think that I am going to invest in a rain coat today though. I think that I found one that will fit for like twenty bucks ... not to shabby! Frankly I don't mind being soaking wet ... years of swimming made me this way, but my Books of Mormon and everything else that is made of paper and (my iPad) don't quite feel the same way ... ... right? They are so lame. I think that the rain coat will be a worthy investment ... plus, I can use it in the winter and stuff ... they are pretty good quality.

Something spiritual that I learned this week was that Satan never gives up and he never gives in. He'll take the slightest doubt in your mind and twist and distort it til you don't know what is right anymore. He's pure evil and wants everyone to be as miserable as he is. Even though it may seem like people that are following him are having fun now, and even though their behavior may appear easy and desirable to those who look at it, it's not going to be desirable to God ... which in the end, is the only thing that counts. Some of the people that are being taught by the missionaries are just so blinded by Satan that they can't see what God has in store for them. They don't understand that they have so much more to gain by trying their best to follow the commandments, then they don't, by not making the promise to follow them. It's really frustrating sometimes! It's like they are just sitting there so focused on a piece of cake that they fail to see the rest of the buffet that's waiting for them. Satan has narrowed their view so much that they won't even look to see what God has to offer.

Well, I gotta jet soon, but I just wanted to say thank you for all the emails! They helped out a lot those a last week!!!

Love,
Elder Griffiths

DD 7.75 ... bashed in heads, speeding trucks, but a perfectly intact bike ...

How did you know that you had a bacterial infection on your feet? Itchy, spots, etc. I am suspicious that Dad wants to know this information. I will be checking his feet out!
White Choro saw my feet one day and was like whoa, that's what I have! And then I could have killed him ...

How is your Eikaiwa class in Kawagoe going? Any new students?
Good. They are all older people, but they are all crazy funny; some are investigators, some are … but don't realize it yet, and some … well we just don't know their interest yet.

Tell us about transfers??? Please!!
I'm staying here with Watanabe Choro and I will be the District Leader. White Choro is leaving and Kuroiwa Choro’s trainer is coming back to work with him.

Mom is worried that you might get sick from eating fruit from Mexico, where is your fruit grown?? Silly Mom!
I have no idea, I've eaten bananas that one of the sisters in the ward smuggled back from the Philippines ...

How is your trusty steed doing? Is it serving you well? Does it have a name? What color is it??
Clyde? She's marvelous!! Of course!! Can't you read, she's perfectly intact. Tires are a bit low, but I’ll iterate some air in today!

How are the members in Kawagoe? Is there a family there that takes care of the missionaries? Or a favorite member that you like better than the others?
All of them. One of them. Sister M, is awesome, she always makes us dinner before Eikaiwa class.
The Fijimi Kawagoe Chapel
LDS.org says that you are in the Fijimi Kawagoe Ward. Do they have different missionaries assigned to the Fijimi area or is that within your boundaries?? How many sets of missionaries are in your ward?
We are Fuji Kawagoe Ward ... and there are eight missionaries here?

How big is the area you and your companion personally work in? Borders and boundaries are nice.
Meh, from Waco-shi to Kawago-shi it’s pretty small.

It seems from other blogs that other missionaries like to stop by the Tokyo tower for photo opportunities on temple day. Have you ever stopped? Picture? Or is it lame?
Never been.

Are you writing in your journal every night? How much?? You should include your experiences, people you meet, and other stuff you won't want to forget. Sam and Mom have a bet riding on this question!
I wrote every day until I became a DL, then I wrote on P-Day. Recently, when things were ruff, it was hard to write, so not as often as I should be doing. However, when I get back I wanna keep my blog going ... but maybe keep it as a journal ... I don't know how it'll work yet.

Dad. Thanks for the Thor Poem. It was amazing … it rocked my socks ... like it rocked me right off my feet; I'm back in my flip flops right now actually. Also thanks for the recap of presidents Lloyd's talk. It sounds way good! I've never really thought about how the church gives us specific ways that we can serve, but it seems way sweet!! I truly agree I with what he said, it gives us ways to improve that we wouldn't seek otherwise.

Mom ... I know about the truck ... it's so easy to speed in ... feels like you’re going fifty, and ya look down, and yer hittin’ seventy in the river bottoms ... way scary. Sorry that Clyde doesn't agree with you ... I think he just misses me ... that's probably it. This was in dad's letter, but I also look forward to the day when I can be part of the acting like a bear again ... Which thankfully is a log time away.

Sam... I got a stress fracture in my shin, and collapsed after that turkey trot ... I hopped on one foot to the car and prayed that y'all would hurry up and finish cuz I was just sitting there in pain. I couldn't put any pressure on it ... like at all. Maybe go to the doctors, but I would take it easier till you know what's going on. If it gets worse, then you get to do that way fun therapy that I got to do ... you know I loved every minute ... that I got to run, hated the other sixteen in that first week … run one minute, walk 16 minutes … run one minute, walk 16.

Storm. The big three ... I like it, I like it even more if they were candy bars!!! Love me some candy. Sorry that Logan is going to be sad to leave, that's how I felt and I was only there for nine months. I can't wait to get back there though, it's so great!! You can come visit me!! And well hit up tacos ... on any day, not just Taco Tuesday. It'll all be way chill.

So you could say this week was a bit rough. There was some contention within our apartment that sort of came to a head. It turns out that four elders living in an apartment together don’t always get along (I know, who knew? Good thing I had three sisters …) By Wednesday I knew the wheels were coming off … but frankly the contention didn’t really affect me--as a matter of fact my comp and I started to hit our stride working together-- then I get a call from the Zone Leaders on Saturday night; they asked for my perspective … Well, it turns out that Budge Kaichou had some pretty nice things to say about me, and while I’d like to say that my actions matched his compliments, I’m not totally sure I lived up to them. I wasn't as Christ like as I could have been … but having Budge Kaichou indicate he thought I was helping the situation so much more than I was, hurt a whole lot; so I hit my knees, regained the knowledge that we are all human beings, a scout is courteous, a scout is kind, a scout is friendly, a scout is patient … I guess we all need to realize it is easy to get caught up in the day to day events … I have prayed for forgiveness … it’s been a rough week, but I feel better today, lots to learn as I reflect on this past transfer--we can always be better right? So the moral of my long story is that life is hard and Satan likes to throw curve balls … it's hard to do what is right, even as a missionary … frankly when we take the easier path in the long run, it just feels sad. When we look around and see what we could have been doing, what we should have been doing, I feel awful ... It was a really hard thing to realize. Some of us are leaving on Thursday so we only have three days to make up for the last week ... yeah, gotta to try to fix that ... wish me luck.

On the brighter side of life, things are changing up here in Kawagoe, so it's like a fresh start, new people, new ideas, and new starts to help us all grown and learn for the mistakes that we made before. When it comes to the burned bridges of our previous encounters, it’s nice to remember the words of Holland Choro, let us look back to the embers, not the ashes, so that we can light the way of the future. I feel as though we should follow this advice with everything that we do in life. Whether it is moving from our friends, starting a new job, worrying over the loss of future opportunity, or spending more time with others … even when our past actions are not mistakes, if there was something damaged, there is something to be learned.

Thank you all for all me letters and everything, they really made my day.

Love, Griffiths Choro

Kuroiwa Choro
PS … the subject line, last night Kuroiwa Choro was riding on his bike through an intersection, saw a truck at the last second as it was running a red light; he smashed on his brakes; couldn't stop soon enough, smashed his head into the truck which going like fifty miles an hour. He went to the hospital, got some stitches, can't shower for a couple days ... but he's all good now.

I don't wanna brag or anything, but I can totally understand all of this video by Matz ... #LikeABoss
